Hygiene, Colorado
Recording, live music films, and intimate events in a historic Colorado barn.
Dharma Barn is a 1918 barn on North 75th Street in Hygiene, between Longmont and Lyons. These days it holds a recording studio, a stage set up for filming, and room for a small show.
Bands come out to make a record, to film a live session, or both at once.
A few sessions from the barn: Dan Rodriguez, Desert Hollow, Shook Twins and others.
The Sundance Film Festival comes to Boulder in January 2027. We're offering the barn for private screenings, brand events and recorded sessions that week. More about that.
Photo unavailableWe track, mix and master at the barn. A band can set up on the stage and play together, or work through the parts one at a time.
Everything runs through an API 1608-II console. The microphones are mostly old ones: a Neumann U 47 with its VF14 tube, a U 67, an AKG C24, a Telefunken ELA M 251 E. Neve, API, Manley and Pultec hardware does most of the rest.
Mastering has its own chain, with Pultec equalizers, a Requisite L2M limiter and Lynx and SPL converters.
Chris Wright runs the studio and the video work.

Photo unavailableShows on the stage are filmed on Sony cameras from several angles under stage lights, and each performance is recorded to multitrack at the same time. We mix the audio in the studio first, then cut the picture to it.
Most of what we film is live sessions and concert videos for bands, plus clips for press kits, interviews and podcasts. We can also shoot in Apple Immersive Video for release on Vision Pro.

Photo unavailableEvery so often the barn opens for a small concert. It also hosts dinners, rehearsals and the odd livestream. The stage, lights and sound are already set up.
News about shows goes out on Instagram, at @dharma_farm_.

Photo unavailableThe Sundance Film Festival moves to Boulder for 2027, from January 21 to 31. The barn is in Hygiene, outside the city and away from the downtown venues. That week we're offering it in three ways.
